My dad called me around 6:30pm today. He said he had bad news.

My Uncle Johnny shot himself this morning. His brother, my Uncle Doc, found him in his driveway this afternoon.

He had been going downhill steadily in the past few years, especially after his son (my cousin Johnny) came out of the closet three years ago. He's the redneck, racist, homophobic type, so that angered him a lot. The last month he's been living on cigarettes and pot. This morning he went to the DMV to get his license renewed, but for some reason or another they refused to renew it. So when he got home, he snapped.

I'm concerned about my grandmother. This is the second brother of hers to commit suicide. Granted my Uncle Dick's suicide was much more traumatic, but both are equally as devastating. I love her, I just hope she's taking this as well as she can.
